Thank you for your continued efforts to inform your readers of what is happening both in the world, and adjacent to you in the airport. Congratulations on the New York Press Club award for Commentary for Reporter's Notebook!
John, as I said to you—too quietly—after your fascinating presentation of the Jim Lehrer lecture, you were superb: as a human, as a writer, as a newsman. You remind me so very much of our great friend Jim Lehrer. Thanks for coming home to Charlottesville.
I do wish people were more aware of the science of sound projection in open spaces. I run into them now & then in the woods where they don't seem to understand or care, one, how voices echo in said open spaces. A bit tiresome.
Thank you for what you do. Your quiet intellectual competence (especially the quiet part) is much needed right now and your award well deserved.
It’s people like you, John, that provide that lifeline to reality, like mindedness, and, dare I say it, hope.
That means a lot. Thank you.

Appreciate, as always, your thorough and thoughtful commentary. The touches of humour are both merciful and welcome.
“Perhaps you can hear him where you are.” I wish he could read that.
Thank you, John, for continuing to inform your readers. You keep me sane. Congratulations on the Press Club Award! Well deserved.
