Sir, great stuff. I am struck by the difference in physical presence and appearance of DJT between the ill fated NBC interview last week and your 2017 CBS interview. Despite his deflections and standard stubborn unsubstantiated responses, he coherently stayed with you in the conversation flow. I can’t say the same in any appearance, scripted or otherwise, in this term. He never seems to be in the same conversations flow in any interview or purpose for public speaking. I am avoiding the hot button words here, but if you run the old and recent clips side by side it is startling in their divergence. Thanks for your continued contributions to our democracy and the 1st Amendment
Great analysis, as usual. I'm stunned that so many people in our country still place their confidence in this guy. Do they really trust him--or is there some other strange appeal behind their support? How do we bring dignity back to our government?!
Even after he and his evil cabal are gone, it will take years to undo the damage. The constant lies and distrust have deep roots, and will be difficult to rip out.
He never ever stops trying to sow distrust in the government. Gotta keep those Jan 6 rioters on a simmer in case he decides to bring things to a boil again.
This gets to the heart of the matter. The corrosiveness of the lies is the point, slowly eroding our democracy. This dovetails with Andrew Weissmann’s new book “Liar’s Kingdom,” in which he prescribes remedies to hold public officials responsible for spreading lies where there is zero evidence.
It's telling that this administration has a very bad record in court (even with a sympathetic SCOTUS). The court of law is still a place where evidence matters and you can't just bully and whine and bluster your way through.
