Remember that Obama had Congress vote on whether to use military action in Syria after the “red line” was crossed, and Congress voted no. A diplomatic solution followed.

Not to mention a perfectly viable nuclear non-proliferation agreement with Iran which is the root of all this really, ie Trump’s pure jealousy of Obama. Many of us will die now for that. Even before Trump, remember how the RW nut-o-sphere told everyone we were paying off Iran when in fact we were returning some of their own money we had confiscated in return for good behavior, ie carrot & stick? But the GOP continually shoved that fiction down the throats of American voters. And now we all must pay, again, for the GOP’s deceit and games.

Had me at Clausewitz violation! and Iraq in that regard, as well.

I'll never forget a comment that my husband (USMA: Armor - frontline with Schwarzkopf's "Big Left Hook", then Civil Affairs in the Reserves before retiring after 28 years, altogether) made in a conversation we had when he returned from one of his deployments to Iraq with his Reserve unit (I had served in Intelligence, though had not deployed, and we talked about the military often)

He said...quietly, "...and then we realized...after all that...there was nothing there"

Perhaps Trump’s main objective has been quietly achieved so far. Since the attacks on Iran were launched last Saturday, I have heard or seen very little about the missing Epstein files.

Ohh we won’t let that happen.

I rewatched Wag the Dog a few nights ago and a feeling Trump is Wagging the Dog to change the subject from the Epstein files and, well, he succeeded in doing that. I like your point about republicans in congress intentionally shirking their duty to avoid responsibility.

I believe the true rational and strategy for Trump to attack Iran at this time is to cripple their ability, and the ability of their proxies to potentially cause harm to the rebuilding of the Gaza Strip via the World Peace organization. This is yet another example of a transactional president who in the end, cares only for his own personal interests.

In trump-speak, ie pure projection, the declaration that Iran is running out of weaponry is the surest sign WE are running low and unprepared, especially given the price and time required to build a patriot system.

So places like Qatar, already running low on defenses and requesting more, will soon find out just how little Trump thinks or cares about them. ETTD. You are all pawns in his self-serving, psychotic, incompetent brain…as are we all. I fully expect Israel to be wiped off the map for all intents & purposes. How could anyone be surprised? Politicians here (on both sides) that are too cozy with Bibi were already being scrutinized. We have had enough.

And now Iran’s next regime leader will be the son of the man we slaughtered. The bloodlust for revenge is palpable and will be long-lasting. We have burned all our allied relationships. They are wise to turn their heads and let karma do its thing. America has a big lesson to learn and it will be painful. This will come to our shores My only hope is that they go for the head of the snake rather than another 9/11 type event since, in truth, our deaths would have no relevance to Trump either. We are all “suckers and losers” in his warped and dying brain.

The lack of planning or concern for Americans, military and civilian, now stuck & unable to get out of the Middle East, tells you exactly how much they think or care about us.
