Hi John, love that you are here! Sad that you and Maurice had to leave cbs.. I’m boycotting cbs now. For that as well as not showing the 60 mins on that awful prison. Too bad we can’t send the Whole Regime there! Take care!🦋

Heard they just yanked another 60 minutes story about the Epstein Files.

Me too. Not watching anything associated with the network

I just emailed my two Democratic Senators and Congressional Representative. We can't let Trump and his incompetent administration ignore the rule of law for another year in the hopes the Democrats takeover. What are you doing to convince your Republicans colleagues that they must act now?

Me too. Fetterman, McCormick, Houlahan. I know Houlahan will get on board, F, M are dusty fusty MAGAS. Yes, F, lookin at you!

I keep thinking about Fiona Hill's testimony to Congress on October 14, 2019 that Russia's proposed plan to President Trump was to allow the US to control Venezuela if Russia would be allowed to control Ukraine: "the Russians at this particular juncture were signaling very strongly that they wanted to somehow make some very strange swap arrangement between Venezuela and Ukraine." https://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/6543447/Fiona-Hill-Testimony.pdf

He doesn’t give a damn about those people. He just wants to steal their oil.

This was a three-fer: Favor to oil companies, favor to tech billionaires, favor to personal ambition.

That statement about the US and Venezuela that we will “run the country” is certainly deeply disturbing. How far will Trump go? But the attack on Venezuelan land and the capture of Maduro without Congressional approval should not surprise anyone as our President has consistently ignored laws, rules, and accepted decorum. On the other hand, Maduro may be quietly hoping his prosecuting team will include Alina Habba and LIndsey Halligan, who have far from stellar records as prosecutors.

Excellent analysis. CBS’s loss.

It seems to me that Trump is squandering military assets for some mysterious purpose known only to him. He is attacking Venezuela because he can. He failed to annex Canada and Greenland. His need to demonstrate his power is terrifying.

It looks like Netanyahu has Gaza, Putin has Ukraine and Trump is trying to have Venezuela.

He wants to be the king of something and it seems that the only position that is available is King of world class thugs/war criminals.

I am heartbroken that you are not on evening news. I waited all day for your show. I felt comforted by your voice and truthful reporting. I can't believe you and Maurice have stopped. You mad the best news. A tearful and God Bless you farewell.

P.S. please come back

Thanks for a clear headed analysis.

John, I already miss your particular view of the news at the old place. I’m glad I’ve been a member of Slate for years listening to you on the Gabfest.

Excellent analysis, as expected. Thank you.

We wouldnt have accepted it John-this is a clear violation of many laws-thanks for the writing! It’s good to see you out of CBS-those idiots!

Thank you for clarifying this for us. I might make the point that it seems Article II was invoked to support the attacks in the name of protecting the arrest/extraction team, rather than justifying the boat attacks or the arrest itself. Maybe it's been invoked for all of those, though.

This changes nothing. Congressional approval was needed. Heads of state have diplomatic immunity. Madero, a bad man and a bad leader, was kidnapped and not “ captured “. Trump will release him once the right bribe is received.

To Trump, the boat crimes are yesterday’s news. His one talent is sale timing.

Dan Caine is fixin’ to become Trump’s Oliver North. Hope he gets the same historical treatment.

Which oil company has the largest stake in the Venezuelan oil industry? The sooner we know that the sooner we can begin the boycott.

BTW, for future reference, the “C” in CBS is silent now.

Democracy Labs has posted a new article tying campaign cash to Venezuela mentioning Citgo, Haliburton and more.

Thanks for the clarity on this issue. Miss you and not watching CBS
