This Morning

Another experiment in I’m not sure what

By six a.m. I am outside reading, the dew having been swept from the chair with a towel. I am not in one of my chairs in the city. Or at the coffee shop, a reference Navel Gazing listeners and readers will understand.

This is another experiment. Not the morning reading. I’ve been doing that for a while. The experiment is to write, though exactly what that means I’m not sure. Perhaps the point is to see what happens when the morning’s information undergoes an immediate translation into words, sentences and paragraphs.

Some of this will feel familiar to Navel Gazing regulars. In part, the goal is slowness, to proceed at the pace of thought. This offers an antidote to the pace of the day and the shredded feeling the day will produce. Even yesterday’s writing about the presidency produced a ragged feeling.
