Great essay. Americans need more thoughtful reporting like this on Trump’s behavior as President!

The "king" opens mouth -- inserts foot. I can imagine Rubio holds his breath as the Pres. addresses the press on AF-1. Good piece.

Hostile Attribution Bias is something I am familiar with in my own household!

You are always such a pleasure to read regardless of subject matter. Thank you for today's post.

But Americans WILL be called treasonous when they vote for democrats in the midterms. He will not accept that.

He throws that word around so much has long lost any relevance. And we don't care what he calls us if we can shut down the mad king's criminal court.

If there is one constant in this president’s two terms, it is his severe reaction to being a loser. He heard Sanger’s relevant and legitimate question and felt the reporter was calling him a loser. That prompted the president’s vicious rebuke.

You have to wonder if there is a part of the president’s inner self that recognizes he has not only lost the war, but the respect of the electorate. No amount of vile verbal attacks will restore the latter.

Ray,

I believe Sociopaths are Narcissists but not all Narcissists are Sociopaths. But I believe all Narcissists have 0 self-esteem and are “forever failures” in their rationalizations of their inner self. Therefore it is of paramount importance that they, Narcissists, convince the rest of us they are GREAT! Remember a Sociopath’s problems are ALWAYS caused by someone or something else, because they are PERFECT!

Excellent analysis of Trump’s response to a reasonable question. And an important one. We have become numb to Trump’s frequent attacks on members of the press, telling ourselves “It is just Trump being Trump.” However, we do need to recognize that a question that ignites a short fuse is a question that deserves deeper follow-up. I believe most of us have witnessed or perhaps even exhibited hostile attribution bias at some point. But I do not believe we have seen it in any President as much as we have seen it in Donald Trump.

Excellent essay. Hostile attribution bias might describe some of Trump’s more over the top responses to questioning by the press. The president’s anxiety or low tolerance for frustration seems to be increasing with the complexity of governing and aging.

Did you see Iran's response today? Doesn't sound like our gas prices are going down anytime soon.
