When I think of the things Trump has named, and the many contracts he has bullied companies into to put his name on things, my mind wanders to Fremont, Washington.
A few observations about Fremont Washington: it is a tiny community, on the Lake Washington Canal. It is very eclectic. One must walk through the town to get its true character. There is a huge (at least a story high) Troll, carved in dirt under a bridge, holding a real VW bug from the 60’s.
Walk along the canal and there are statues of clowns from local TV shows. There is a statue of a group of people that are waiting at a bus stop for the interurban bus; it is said that the sculptor placed the face of one of his enemies on the dog. The statues get decorated, with balloons, lights, and seasonal displays.
The thing that reminds me most of Trump and his multitude of self proclaimed memorials is the 16 ft statue of Lenin. Basically, the statue was removed from Czechoslovakia and brought to Fremont by a person who admired the art, not Lenin. It is near a Cold War era rocket (pointed at city hall). It is a controversial statue.
Humor, political statements, and uniqueness is Fremont. How controversy is handled is a unique community display.
Lenin is often decorated with scarves, lingerie and holding signs. He is not worshipped or remembered for good, he is mocked, laughed at and remembered as ugly, repressive and an era never to be forgotten or repeated.
It is decorated to show the disdain for his repressive regime.
That is what will happen to Trumps
Self displays of greatness. They will be removed, the art work may be preserved— but it will be mocked by the community who might take it in.
Trumps self worship will be mocked, or even destroyed…
I pray that none of Trumps works of art make it to Fremont. But if they do, I bet it will be decorated in Lenin style…
George Washington was so right about political parties.
Just think, if we had no political parties people might actually pay more attention to what they say, what they stand for, what they have done in the past.
Perhaps we can look forward to the catharsis when the monuments are torn down in the next administration.
Per the Kennedy Center point: “Fermi said in the application that the nuclear complex, which it calls the Donald J. Trump Generating Plant, will be eligible for financing from the Department of Energy's Loan Programs Office.” https://www.reuters.com/sustainability/climate-energy/texas-project-build-four-nuclear-plants-is-talks-with-hyperscalers-2025-07-08/
What a waste of tax$$$$

“If your American chief be a man of ambition, and abilities, how easy it is for him to render himself absolute.”
Or apparently even if he be a man of ambition and complete inability.
