living life with the guidance of St Benedict ... with humility and listening with the ear of the heart as we encounter one another.

Thank you for putting this latest wild incident into a more loving and peaceful perspective.

Yes indeed. And yet what Christianity is about, to those not in the faith, gets more sullied by the day. Trump's idiotic and downright malevolent memes, proclamations by Pete Hegseth and others in public that are tone deaf and sacrilegious, and the racism and sexism of the religious right are a toxic stew. Yet God's unchanging nature stands firm as a mighty redwood, as has been so eloquently, yet forcfully expressed by our American Pope, Leo, in the last few days. He said, in so many words, that he was "not afraid" of President Trump. That really stuck with me today for some reason. Maybe because cowardice rules the day. I don't believe Trump in any way creates these memes. It seems right up Stephen Miller's alley. The fact that we accept such bizarre repellent behavior in our President just astonishes me to no end. But I'm rambling. Our Lord is bigger than all this. Let us remain steadfast and resolute. Thanks John, as always ... ✝️

It is astonishing that this abhorrent, bizarre behavior has become the norm. His supporters remain silent. The nightmare continues.

Correction: Actually Pope Leo said, "I have no fear of the Trump administration." Somehow a radical statement in these strange days..!!!

Well said John, especially about good people of all faiths. Jesus was a Jew. I got in trouble as a Catholic school kid asking Sr. Catherine Martin if that was true. Dam those Brooklyn kids can't behave. Write on John.

Wow, John. Your mindfulness of those with faith is so well written. And very much in tune with how I feel. I stand in "that light" as often as I can... Thank you, John.

So much has been lost in the flood of media, folks have forgotten how to listen and sense what is really important in a message. If there is no love or empathy, no feelings for those in need or alone or left behind, it's likely a sales pitch. As I get older, I worry most about the world I leave my children. Thanks for sharing and for caring.

If you have an interest, I wrote more about it here: https://mickmckellar.blogspot.com/2013/02/enduring-legacy.html
