It’s obvious how much effort you are putting into providing us with actual factual news. I appreciate it more than I’m able to express. Bless you John Dickerson

This “experiment” would have played well in your Reporter’s Notebook 30 minutes. Oh well, it definitely has value and should continue in some form. Monday will come soon enough, so enjoy the pink sky.

Hi John. Since you have the discipline of writing/reporting/presenting your content for TV news, and as we like to say “there’s nothin’ like a deadline to get things done,” I wonder if you might frame the outline for today’s piece. and then deliver a more embelleshed version on camera. All in the context of 45 minutes. I know I would be great with that. Thanks!

Right. He is accustomed to compressing a story into 5 minutes. This must be a combination of genuine literary freedom and "someone stop me, please".

Biggest thing for me is trust that you will not ever willfully mislead or manipulate emotion. I will sign up for basically anything you produce, all in. Oh, and do not forget Pink Moon by Nick Drake (RIP) while pinking out!

Thank you. I know this takes a lot of time, but I value what you’re doing.

I hope you can have a weekend with family and a little downtime.

I upgraded to paid - which honestly I should’ve done a while ago - but mainly to comment that I’m glad I’m not the only one who regularly feels the need to refresh my memory of why there is an inverse relationship between yield and price on bonds! Only yes to remember -again - that it doesn’t really matter that I understand it. Which is a long way of saying that you often write so lucidly about things that so many of us regularly think about but don’t articulate. Thank you!

Agree W all the sentiments above. Your insights and thoughtful comments were the reason we even listened to “the news”. I’ll be happy to read whatever you choose to write about, whenever that may be. Thanks for your work.

What a pleasure to read. I'm recommending the Stack to friends.

Another thought. What I have especially enjoyed is your coverage of the events that are not top of the fold and that I did not see elsewhere. Maybe a focus on news items that are not getting widespread coverage?

Cyn B's avatar

Sparkle may fall under that category, no?

Cyn B's avatar

OH. That is an excellent point. When all the other news channels were a 24/7 trump show, I could always count on John to teach me something interesting apart from the crazy.

The experiment was our collective benefit. I must admit I did wonder about the time involved and whether it was sustainable. I am not sure of the ratio reflecting excellent reporting and writing to minutes of work but it felt substantial. Thank you for your efforts.

I do feel like I should be accumulating college credits. But the reason you were my go to news anchor was because I always felt like I learned something. I do love that.

Didn't some ex-Fox news host cosplaying a military leader just say we had to get more aggressive to be less aggressive or some such malarky (that's for you, Joe)?

So sometimes you have to get more expansive in order to contract. Huh?

John maybe just a story of the day that we may not have heard about. Your voice is important and I really appreciate your time and effort. Than you.

OH no, we are already spoiled for more now!

I have enjoyed learning how you stack the stories, since I didn’t study journalism. I hope you continue that topic.

We are intellectually richer from reading your insights! Thanks for your efforts in sharing your thoughts…thoughtful writing is so time consuming!

The experiment was great - helped filter information into manageable bites. Definitely pleased continue.
