Thanks so much for doing this. I'm an AVID gabfest listener, and have thoroughly enjoyed your substack since you moved on from CBS. I vacillate between being sad you no longer have that meaningfully enormous reach, and delighted that we get a more intimate (and personality-filled) version of your reporting and thoughts. Thanks for what you do. Thanks for your commitment to excellent communication. And thanks for being a good citizen, a fine human by all accounts, and so regularly beaming into my ears and eyes to share your perspective. Well done, good and faithful journalist.
I enjoy whatever you do and found the daily edition more manageable Thant the weekly, but definitely appreciate the time required. I will continue to follow you for your insights and humor. Thank you and I look forward to the next Navel Gazing season.
I’m 82 and was caring for infants and toddlers when I first heard of you during that memorable political earthquake called Watergate. (Why don’t you look as old as me??? ) Ever since then I have made the effort to find out what you were thinking of any current govt upheaval and always felt reassured that the country would survive it. This year you and the rest of us standing slightly on the left aren’t so sure of our survival. My faith in your visions of our nation’s future is shaken. My future here is gravely limited but those former infants and toddlers now have their own children and grandchildren with huge stakes in the future
Well said. I can’t add more but my sentiments exactly. I too had little ones to care for, now grown with their careers and families. I feel very sad sometimes because of this administration’s lack of decency and constant lies. Truth matters.
Totally understand. I am overwhelmed trying to find time and energy to read you and others like HCR and Paul Krugman every day. I can imagine how overwhelming putting this all together is. I do love reading your posts and look forward to whatever you decide to do. Be well.
Thank you for STW. Doing it daily seemed like a big and demanding stretch. Frequency matters much less than quality. So do what you feel comfortable with. You have a lot in your plate!
Your explanation about the experiments makes, of course, perfect sense. I'm glad to have been along for that ride and look forward to what's next! No matter the form, if it's from you, I will value it. Have a happy weekend!
John, when you speak in your unassuming but scholarly way, I listen. And, I will read your writing in any form you publish it. You have always been one of my favorite journalists & authors. I’m in the same generation as Joanne9153, a retired teacher, also widowed, trying to balance my time. If I were to offer any of my wisdom, it would be take the traveling with Anne. I’m sure your travel journal would be filled with inspirational thoughts to be shared with your subscribers.
John, I’m a long time Slate Plus subscriber & already enjoyed your weekly visits into my ears. I don’t remember when I stopped watching the local & network news shows, but it has to be at least since 2016, & I forgot how nice it is listening to you suggest subjects to which I should devote some of my limited attention in a tone that doesn’t make me want to set my hair on fire.
I’m a devoted follower but perhaps, not as vocal as I could have been. I will always look for your name and look forward to reading new pieces from you. With Colbert gone, you really can’t think of disappearing. What would become of us?
There are a few dedicated reliable journalists providing a lot of actual news. We don’t want this to be a burden to you. We do want YOU. It’s you, who you are and how you share peeks in to your world with us. It’s you and your special purpose we will follow and find. ♥️
Will miss the stack but know you your next iteration will be just as useful, informative and interesting. Thanks for this and all the rest. Enjoy your travels. I’ll be anxious to see what you bring us next.

John, my friends and I will read or listen to whatever you choose to write and on whatever platform you choose!

No worries John, we will follow you whatever road you take us down. As long as you continue in sharing your thoughtful pursuit of excellent knowledge.

Thanks for bringing us along on the experiment. Looking forward to future writings whenever they appear.
Happy Friday, John ~
Thank you for all that you are doing! Any little "nugget" of information from John Dickerson makes my day better.
I hope you and Anne have a fantastic weekend!
Safe travels!
Peace & Blessings ~

PS ~ Have you thought about doing a YouTube channel?
Asking for a friend.
Work life balance is a real thing!

At least, not at first!

Thanks for you all you share with us. ☺️
Thank YOU!
(And I vote “yes” to shadow puppets.)
