I really enjoy your take on things - what catches your eyes, ears, heart, mind. Your reactions, insight, commentaries, and the language you use makes for great reading and naval gazing.

The Guardian publishes amazing photography, particularly their nature series. I call it my 'palate cleanser' after a week of madness.

After a crappy day at work, it's such a pleasure to come home and read your take on things. Bank Of America doesn't have to admit wrong doing, but still has to make the big pay out. The building and creating around the tree in Brooklyn, which has been here longer than us, makes me think maybe there is hope after all

Oh where to begin on this lovely Saturday- I love the image of the polar bear looking down into the water ( or perhaps at me looking up at it's beautiful self...). I love the story of the developers changing course to save a tree growing in the middle of their progress and the image of taking care of an older beloved pet- know the challenges well. I love the story of girls and little league - when my daughter was just 9 yo -we moved to the PNW area and she suddenly wanted to play ball- I thought that I had signed her up for a girl's softball team- only to find out the it was an all boy's fast pitch team...did not bother her one bit and when she hit the winning home run in the first game- did not bother the boys on the team either and finally Mom's ability to be like Mary Poppins and have all kinds of things tucked away - just in case- like a water and paints from the 1990's! It has been a crazy week and I have some of your articles to read to catch up on - but this is a great way to start a weekend! Many thanks John!!!

Super sparkly, thanks!

I thought the Silver Maple story was full of glorious sparkles. Thank you for that.

The deference shown to the maple tree by cantilevering over its roots is truly extraordinary and wholly commendable.

Thank you!

Indefatigable is such a lovely word. Just rolls off the tongue. And yes we are when it comes to your musings as opposed to the exhausting 'real world' we are dealing with of late.

Hi John -- would you consider letting your readers have a Q & A with you at some time? I want to know why no one has interviewed Evan Gershkovish since his return. And, of course, if anyone did I'd hope it would be you.

Having worked 10 years in a bank, many eons ago, I learned that they will pay almost any price to avoid negative publicity. Employee embezzling, excuse me "borrowing", money to run down the street and buy new tires on sale? Quietly fire them. Bank president caught making unsecured loans, allegedly due to blackmail though details were never made public (suspicion back then was that he was gay). Quietly fired. *poof* The irony of protecting your reputation by sending the message "steal from us and no one will ever know".

Obviously Epstein victims are not thieves but the strong desire to resist publicity at all costs remains the same.

In some ways these are well paying jobs because we have unions and a liveable minimum wage. Maybe they should try that.
