Thanks John,

Your quote, “The process of election affords a moral certainty, that the office of President will never fall to the lot of any man who is not in an eminent degree endowed with the requisite qualifications.” makes me so sad. Clearly Trump does not possess the requisite qualifications. I’m not sure how we change things so that a man like him is never again elected to the Presidency. I could never have imagined that a person of such low moral character could have been placed in such a prestigious position in our country and the entire world. I hope some great political minds can restore the Presidency to a position that we can be proud of once again and serve all of our people, not just “The Epstein Class”.

Agree. I thought we had figured that out the first time with him. We had regained trust in the world. It was a one off. And then we did it again and I don’t think we will recover globally, integrity-wise, in my lifetime.

Thank you John. I've long feared that what we are currently seeing is the popular vote being overtaken by the ability just to win States with the most electoral votes. I also see the MAGA types fearing they are loosing the populace. I appreciate you John and am enjoying this new forum your in. Although I do miss hearing your steady voice.

So true. The reason Obama won is because he used a 50 state strategy. It should always be a 50 state strategy. This thing of allowing 7 states to determine potus, and candidates focusing all their attention there, is so wrong.

We definitely have no shortage of “talents for low intrigue”. That’s a gentle way to put it.

If we had followed Washington’s advice, and eliminated political parties, I believe we would be more likely to make honorable choices instead of mindlessly punching a red or blue ticket.

My exception to that, sort of, is that I think Governors and Lt Governors should run together on a ticket like potus & vpotus. I’ve seen what happens (here in NC) when the person who is supposed to be the governor’s partner is interested in nothing but throwing a wrench in the works and undermining the government or just does nothing. It should be a partnership just like it is at the federal level (for better or worse hah) which would work with or without party labels.

And the electoral college is even more broken now. Abolish it!

And I’m not sure about the 2 Senators per state when you look at the vast difference in sizes of states. Perhaps their number should also be census- based.
