Exactly. CNN would be SO much better with John Dickerson in ANY capacity.

They have not earned it. John has standards. That’s why he left CBS.

I really hope John stays away from cable news, it's a toilet.

If you are indeed Jake Tapper we only demand that you go the fuck away.

The beauty of reading your post is that I/we can hear you saying it as we read it.

Your paragraph about the concept of reckless disregard for the truth – I don't think I've ever read a paragraph that more succinctly sums up the president and his modus right from the beginning.

My lawyer brain thanks you.

There are very few voices I turn to, listen to wholeheartedly, or trust these days, but you, John, are one of them. Why? My daughter,Liz, is the band manager for The Late Show Band with your pal Stephen Colbert. Lizzie tells me how much Stephen respects and listens to you. She has learned to listen as well, from her little cubby behind the stage whenever you are a guest of Stephen’s who she also greatly respects ( what a fabulous boss he’s been for nine years!) I started following on Substack yesterday. So glad I did. Thanks for your clarity.

I see an entire group of Americans who do not want to hear that the white house is spewing forth fraud, lies and the attitude of murder is fine, as long as the end result is helpful to the government.

Because the Trump regime has Americans first as a priority, it’s okay to kill anyone against America first. It’s okay to take away civil rights from others who don’t agree with this regime.

What I have found is an apathy for truth, while clutching to a sinking ship of “both sides are right”.

What I have found is just enough of the false videos, regime claims and attitude that the ICE and murders of people is allowed because the government says they are bad people.

What I have heard is if we defend this regime, follow the self ordained leader and his foot soldiers we will get: $2000 checks, plus more later. We will get lower prices on food, housing, oil, and better healthcare.

What I see are a lot of people willing to give up civil rights, freedom for empty promises.

What I see are many people who have been lower class recipients, the poor of this country clutching at straws to survive and someday be rich. What I see is a middle class trying to survive a government stealing the barely livable wages they are receiving.

What I see are a multitude of suffering Americans who clutch at whatever group promises them instant relief.

What I know is there is no “instant relief”. What I know is justice is slow, and not always apolitical. What I know is, who has money can buy politicians who speak of great things— but don’t tell their constituents that those great things are for the politician. It is a politician hiding that those great things are for me— not for thee.

This regime has chosen to take everything, give only what keeps falsehoods alive, and quickly dispose of anything holding them from their primary goal—- me rich— you poor.

A white woman in my little red town was shocked to hear a couple of us talking about Renee and other ICE atrocities. “I never watch the news” even though she is married to a Mexican and much of his family is living nearby right now with work visas. She has instructed them to keep papers nearby as if that would help. The look on her face as we gave her the highlights of current activities and explained that, if being a citizen doesn’t provide protection, those papers are as useless as tissues.

And then she says, seriously, “Is it me or is Trump2 worse than Trump1?” But at least she listened which is more than we can say for many current or former trump supporters. And if she wants truth now she will have to look hard for it. It isn’t on her evening news and we told her that.

Our willful ignorance, apathy, & arrogance is going to be the death of this country. Perhaps already on life support. Americans take pride in their lack of interest in facts.

Thank you for continuing to share your insights with us. To say that I miss you on the evening news is an understatement (I no longer watch CBS).

I agree with Jake Tapper, get out there and share the truth that used to be on your former network.

Are we not, not surprised. When I watch the news, and Trump is speaking, I mute the sound. He is a blatant liar and have no interest in what he has to say.

Cyn B's avatar

I stopped supporting corp media because muting is not enough. I want them to cease getting my $s. Only way to send a message.

Marlene Vactor Pamer's avatar

Thank you, John, for your astute clarification of the heartbreaking disaster of Trump-speak.
