ditto. We are losing access to award winning journalists - to the MAGA backers, via control of the major news outlets. TG for Substack... and write anytime, any length😎
I do know that we do not want to burn you out! I so value the nuggets or insights or mere observances you offer. Many allow my brain and heart not to explode as the sheer corruption we are being bombarded with happens seemingly hourly. So set your pace, share with us, allow us glimpses of sanity or sheer frivolity. Thank you, thank you.
The weekly stack is a cornucopia of substantive information and much appreciated. It is, however, obviously time consuming and I, like other subscribers, am concerned about burnout, given your other endeavors and omnipresence in the media landscape. Keep the format in some abbreviated version, perhaps twice weekly. Thanks for all you do.
I live in Australia. Frequent traveller to the US and admirer of its people and founding principles. Love your work. Think you and Heather Cox Richardson are perfect parallel reading for anyone ex US. Excellent evolution of your format. Keep going strong!
I like this new approach. Your Reporter’s Notebook was so wonderful. Personally, I like the “more often” idea. Something I would never skip, the way I might Stack. Not because it’s not worthwhile, but we news junkies are overwhelmed! By the end of the week I don’t want to go back to the beginning. But you are a national treasure, however you go forward.
I like the idea of less is more, or at least parsing your thoughts out in smaller and more digestible bites. As I read the expansive Friday posts I could not but be awed by the sheer amount of care and thought put into every word. It’s ok to make it manageable!
I love this idea. Mostly, whatever works for you, works for me, and I will follow you through your experiments in news analysis and delivery. Thank you for caring about truth and caring about words and just for caring.
Love this idea. The full stack was a lot of bad news to digest at once. I’m looking forward to a more frequent message. Your reporting & analysis are excellent & about the only one I trust these days.
It’s a good move. While I welcomed the “Stack” some events were changing daily to the point that by the time “Stack” hit the site, Monday’s news was interesting, but obviously outdated. It was like starting a book where I already knew the ending. And from my point of you, having your point of view through the week is a good thing.
John i love your exploration of the news. I do sometimes have to pause & come back to it. But I value the info you present. Whatever & whenever you have time to put something together for us, it's greatly appreciated!! Also enjoyed your updates from the Aspen ideas festival too.
I hadn’t thought of the weekly stack as a bouillon cube, but you make a great point about it being too concentrated a serving all at once. As stated before this comment, I read whatever, whenever and however you post, speak, or spar with David Plotz. I’m a loyal and appreciative fan. Thank you.
John, I will listen to you regardless of when or how often you post. Thank you for all you do.

I second that emotion.

Thanks for letting us see behind the curtains. Glad to be along for the ride. 😊

Yes, it is like eating a bouillon cube
It was wonderful and rich with information, but a lot
But I can only imagine the effort of producing this weekly
Thank you for trying
I always learned something new.
I will miss it with the acknowledgement of the gift that you gave us and the amount of love you put into each “stack”
Thanks Johnny. It makes sense. Carry on.

This is good news for us readers. I hope it turns out to be good news for you as well. Pace yourself.

I look forward to your reports! Blessings John!
