I hate to be a coffee bore but if you like coffee I have a recommendation:
My wife gave me the perfect coffee maker for Father's Day. This Aeropress looks like something you'd buy on a whim after watching a late-night infomercial but it actually works. Plus, it has a pleasing fussy process that somehow makes the coffee better. What's the trick? I suppose there is one and if I'd read the literature or the manual or wanted to bore you to your socks I'd go on about it. But the fact is, the coffee is smooth and delicious. I've tried many different gadgets and kinds. This one is the best.
I have one as well, and I absolutely love it! It does look a bit like someone took a syringe for an elephant and lopped the nozzle off, but the coffee it makes by far makes up for its surgical appearance.
