The Have a Beer test replaced by the Hang test

"Stern and others see the challenge Obama faces not primarily as racial but in its broadest context. The question is whether a candidate can pass what [Andy] Stern has called the "hang test." That is, can Obama relate easily and empathetically to working-class voters -- or, more simply, can he hang out with them?"

This from today's Dan Balz piece. Since the press was blamed for pushing, embracing or repeating that Bush was the candidate people wanted to have a beer with, is it the press or Andy Stern or "low information" voters who will be blamed for this Obama test?
